About me

Hi! I’m Alyssa!

I’ve spent the past 10 years of my life telling stories. Whether I was writing ad copy for a Gothic candle company, teaching Creative Writing for university students, or pursuing a PhD in Victorian Literature & Horror Cinema, stories have been woven into the very fabric of my soul.

But the stories that matter most to me are the ones about mental health.

That’s what led me to reinvent myself again— this time, as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor.

The Story Orchard grew from that intersection: my love of writing, ten years of marketing experience, and a passion for mental health care.

As someone who lives with ADHD and autism, I have firsthand experience with the life-saving value of mental health care— and the importance of speaking about mental health with clarity and compassion.

Today, I use my experience to help counseling practices share their work through mindful marketing and thoughtful storytelling.

Stories in Bloom

I’ve spent the past 10 years looking for a home.

Throughout my career in academia, telling other people’s stories has paid my way through undergrad, grad school and postgraduate study.

I’ve shifted from blog posts to ad copy to social media campaigns, adapting to embody the brand and voice of each client.

But, while that versatility can be an asset, it’s also left me longing for a creative home. I want to tell stories that I personally feel passionate about. Because every counselor has a story worth growing— and I want to help yours bloom.
